This article explains how to install the Office add-in for Microsoft Project to sync data between OnePlan and Microsoft Project. The Office add-in allows project managers to build and manage their project schedules in the Microsoft Project, and then sync the project schedule to OnePlan.
You must have Microsoft Project installed locally on your machine to use the OnePlan for Project Connector. Have Microsoft Project installed prior to installing the OnePlan connector.
Navigate to the Microsoft Project Add-In page: https://oneplan.ai/integrations/microsoft-project/
Click the blue Install Integration button to install the .msi install file.
If prompted, click Save. Do not click Run. Instead, go to your Downloads folder (or wherever you may have saved it).
Browser Download Warning
When downloading the installer, Microsoft Edge (or Microsoft Defender SmartScreen in Windows) may show the following warning:
"OnePlanConnect.msi isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust OnePlanConnect.msi before you open it."
Note: If you have downloaded the installer more than once, your browser may add a number to the file name, such as OnePlanConnect (2).msi. This is normal and does not affect the installer.
Why this message appears
This warning comes from your browser or Windows, not from OnePlan. Microsoft Edge and SmartScreen compare downloaded files against a list of widely downloaded software. Because the OnePlan for Project Connector is a specialized installer that fewer people download than common consumer software, it may not yet have a strong download "reputation," so a precautionary warning is shown. An .msi file is a Microsoft Installer package used to install software on your computer.
Confirm the file before keeping it
To confirm you're keeping the correct file, press Ctrl + J to open your browser's Downloads page. Check that the file is named OnePlanConnect.msi (possibly with a number in parentheses) and that it was downloaded from https://oneplan.ai/integrations/microsoft-project/. If either doesn't match, delete the file and download it again from the OnePlan integrations page.
Keep the download (Microsoft Edge)
- In the Downloads panel, hover over the file and click the … (More actions) menu.
- Select Keep.
- In the confirmation window, click Show more, then select Keep anyway.
If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC"
When you run the installer, SmartScreen may display this message instead. Click More info, confirm the file name and publisher, then click Run anyway.
Note: If you can't keep or run the file, your organization's security policies may be blocking it. Contact your IT department for assistance.
You may prompted that the download file is blocked. Open the properties for the download file. On the general tab, select the check box for Unblock.
After the installation is complete, open Microsoft Project using either a blank schedule or an existing schedule or template. When Microsoft Project launches, you will be prompted to confirm installation of the connector add-in. Click Install to proceed.
Once installed, the Office add-in will appear in Microsoft Project with the name OnePlan.
