How to Link your OnePlan Group to your OneConnect Group

  • Updated

OneConnect now allows a single OnePlan group to be linked directly to a single OnePlan group, introducing a streamlined approach to managing permissions and integrations.

Key Benefits

  1. Enhanced Permissions Management: When groups are linked, users with Owner permissions in OnePlan are automatically granted Administrator access to the corresponding OneConnect group. This eliminates the need for manual role assignments, saving time and reducing errors.
  2. Simplified Integration Installation: Linking groups also streamlines the process of installing integrations into OnePlan Configuration > Integrations page. This ensures a faster, more efficient setup of integration for connected groups. Please note that not all integrations are available via the OnePlan Express Installer.

Limitations

  1. Access is Dependent on OnePlan: If the OnePlan group is deleted, or if you are deactivated from the OnePlan group, the users access will be removed from the OneConnect group.

Methods to Link Groups

Linking groups through OnePlan

To link a OnePlan group to a OneConnect group, a OnePlan Administrator can use the Integration feature through one of two access points:

  • The Integration icon in the Work Plan. Click on ADD INTEGRATION button.
  • The OnePlan Configuration > Integrations page. Clicking on the Integrations + button.

Once the Express Installer has been launched, you can connect OnePlan to a OneConnect group.

Steps to Connect via Express Installer

The OneConnect group's environment is determined by the OneConnect Environment URL selected on the OnePlan Configurations page.

  • First-Time Setup or No Existing OneConnect Groups: If no one from your tenant has logged into OneConnect before (or all existing OneConnect groups are already linked to OnePlan groups), the system will display a form to create a new OneConnect group. Once completed, this group will be automatically linked to the OneConnect group, and all integrations installed through OnePlan will sync to this new group.
  • Multiple Unlinked OneConnect Groups: If multiple OneConnect groups exist and are not already connected to a OneConnect group, a dropdown menu will appear. Administrators can select the desired OneConnect group to link.
  • Single Unlinked OneConnect Group: If there is only one unlinked OneConnect group available, it will automatically connect to the OnePlan group.

Once linked, the integration tiles will become visible and accessible.

Linking groups though OneConnect

To link a OnePlan group to a OneConnect group, the user creating the connection must have access to the OnePlan group and have Administrator access to the OneConnect group.

Steps to Connect via OneConnect

  1. Navigate to OneConnect Group Configuration Page: From the OneConnect dashboard, click on the settings icon in the top right of the page.
  2. Select Environment: Within the Group Settings section of the OneConnect configuration page, select the environment where the OnePlan group resides in. This ensures that the system connects to the correct environment for the group.
  3. Choose OnePlan Group: Once the environment is selected, the Linked OnePlan Group dropdown will generate a list of OnePlan groups that are not connected already. Select the group desired.
  4. Save Connection: After selecting the appropriate group, click Save to finalize the connection.

Important Considerations

  • User Restrictions: Any users added to a OneConnect group before linking to a OnePlan group may lose access. This is because only users from the connected OnePlan group are permitted to access the linked OneConnect group. Ensure the groups are linked before adding the users to avoid disruptions.
  • Separate Groups: If using multiple iterations of the same integrations for distinct purposes (i.e. Production vs Test), we highly recommend separating these integrations into their own OneConnect groups.
  • Matching URLs: The OneConnect Environment URL must match the location of the integration for the Connected Systems window to work.
