OnePlan Migration Tool - OnePlan Configuration

  • Updated

Before you migrate your data into OnePlan, some configuration activities must take place in OnePlan.

Custom Fields in OnePlan

The Migration Tool supports both plan, task and resource level custom fields. Please make sure that these fields are created in OnePlan in advance of the migration.

If you are planning to use non labor resources, please review this article on how to create them.

Custom Field Mapping in OneConnect

After you created the required custom fields in OnePlan, please make sure you map those fields in OneConnect

Identifying Plans for Import

The OnePlan Migration Tool is designed to import several different data elements. Some require a plan to be identified. For that purpose a unique plan ID must be created.

Plan External ID

Each plan must be uniquely identified by a Plan External Id.

  • The Id allows OnePlan to match existing plans for updates or create new plans if they don't exist.
  • The field must be set up and mapped manually in OnePlan (it is not out-of-the-box).

Step 1: Create the Custom Field

  1. In OnePlan, go to an Area's List view (e.g. Enterprise Portfolios).
  2. Click Columns.
  3. Click Add Field > Enterprise Field.
  4. Name the field (e.g "Plan External Id").
  5. Set the field type to Text
  6. Click Save.

Step 2: Assign as External Id Field

  1. In OnePlan go to Settings (gear icon)
  2. Go to Financial Plan > Import.
  3. Use the External Id Field dropdown to select your new custom field.
  4. The selection saves automatically.

Note: This field is now used by OnePlan to identify plans for syncing.

Identifying Plans for Resource Plan Import

If you are planning to migrate resource plan data, then you need to set the "Plan External Id" in the configuration.

Set External Id for Resource Plans

  1. In OnePlan, go to Settings (gear icon)
  2. Go to Resource Plan > Advanced
  3. Use the External Id Field dropdown to select your new custom field.
  4. The selection saves automatically.

Note: This field is now used by OnePlan to identify plans for syncing for resource plans.
