Plan Fields - Edit or Delete Plan Fields

This article explains how to edit existing Plan Fields or delete them when they are no longer needed.

By the end of this article, you will be able to update Plan Field settings and safely delete fields with an understanding of the consequences.

Background

As your organization's planning needs evolve, you may need to update Plan Field settings or remove fields that are no longer used.

‼️Important:
The field type cannot be changed after a field is created. If you need a different field type, you must create a new field and delete the old one.


Instructions

Edit a Plan Field

  1. Access the Plan Fields configuration interface (see Access the Plan Fields Configuration Interface).
  2. Locate the field you want to update > click the kebab menu > click Edit. The Edit Field form will open.

  1. Update the field settings as needed. You can modify:
    • Field name and description
    • Default value
    • Required and read-only settings
    • Plan type availability
    • Calculations (if configured)
    • Field-specific options (character limits, decimal places, choices, etc.)
  2. Click Save.

Note:
The field type cannot be edited after a field is created. If you need a different type, create a new field and delete the old one.


Delete a Plan Field

Deleting a Plan Field permanently removes it from OnePlan and deletes all data stored in that field across all plans.

⚠️ Warning:
Data Loss Warning: If you delete a field, any data entered in that field across all plans will be permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone. Ensure you have backups or are certain the data is no longer needed before proceeding.

To delete a Plan Field:

  1. Access the Plan Fields configuration interface.
  2. Locate the field you want to remove > click the kebab menu > click Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

The field and all associated data will be permanently removed.
