The Cost Table Synch feature allows cost information configured in OnePlan to synchronize with Microsoft Project Professional (MPP).

When enabled, OnePlan resource Cost Tables are imported into the MPP resource’s Cost Rate Table → Option A (Default).

This feature is disabled by default and must be enabled within the MPP file.

Important: A OnePlan resource uses either the Cost field or a Cost Table. These values are not used together. When a resource is configured to use a Cost Table, the Cost Table becomes the source of truth for the resource’s cost.

Before You Enable Cost Table Synch

Before enabling Cost Table Synch, review the following:

• Cost Table Synch is an opt-in feature and is disabled by default.
• Cost Tables are supported for Work and Material resources.
  • Cost resources do not use Cost Tables and are not populated with cost information from OnePlan.
• OnePlan Cost Table information is imported only into Option A (Default) in Microsoft Project Professional.
• Existing information in Option A may be overwritten during synchronization.
  • Cost Rate Table Options B, C, D, and E are not modified.
• Microsoft Project Professional supports a maximum of 25 rows per Cost Rate Table option.
  • OnePlan Cost Tables do not have a row limit.

Enable Cost Table Synch

To enable Cost Table Synch in Microsoft Project:

1. Open the MPP file.
2. Select the OnePlan tab.
3. In the Configuration section of the ribbon, select Settings.
4. Locate the Cost Table Synch section.
5. Select the Cost Table Synch checkbox.
6. Save the settings.

Cost Table Synch is now enabled for the MPP file.

Important: Enable Cost Table Synch before mapping resources or publishing if you want OnePlan Cost Table information to be synchronized with the MPP file.

How Cost Synchronization Works

OnePlan resources can use one of the following cost configurations:

• The Cost field
• A Cost Table

The synchronization behavior depends on which cost configuration the resource uses. 

OnePlan Cost Field

If a OnePlan resource uses the standard Cost field, the Cost value is imported into the Resource's Std. Rate field in Microsoft Project. 

This behavior occurs regardless of whether Cost Table Synch is enabled. 

You can view the value in either of the following locations:

• Resource Sheet > Std. Rate column
• Resource Information > Costs > Option A (Default) > Standard Rate 

OnePlan Cost Table

For resources using a OnePlan Cost Table:

• Cost Table Synch must be enabled.
• The OnePlan Cost Table is imported into:

Resource Information → Costs → Option A (Default)

• Existing data in MPP Option A may be overwritten.
• Cost Rate Tables B, C, D, and E are not modified.

Resource Type Behavior

Cost Table synchronization behavior depends on the resource type. 

Cost Rate Table Options in MPP

Microsoft Project Professional supports five Cost Rate Table options:

• Option A (Default)
• Option B
• Option C
• Option D
• Option E

OnePlan Cost Tables are always synchronized to:

Option A (Default)

If a task uses another Cost Rate Table option:

• The OnePlan Cost Table is still imported into Option A.
• The task continues using the selected Cost Rate Table.
• A warning appears during Publish.
• Costs may not match between OnePlan and MPP.

For the most accurate results, use Option A (Default) for tasks using synchronized OnePlan Cost Tables.

Cost Table Synch Disabled Behavior (default)

When Cost Table Synch is disabled:

• OnePlan Cost Table information is not imported into MPP.
• A warning appears during Map Resources or Publish to OnePlan if OnePlan resources are using Cost Tables.
• Work and Material resources using Cost Tables have their current Std. Rate set to 0.
• Existing past and future Cost Rate Table values are not changed.

Resources using the OnePlan Cost field continue to synchronize normally.

Cost Table Dates and Differences Between OnePlan and MPP

OnePlan and Microsoft Project Professional represent Cost Table dates differently.

OnePlan Cost Tables

OnePlan requires each Cost Table row to have:

• Start Date
• End Date

Rows cannot overlap.

If a row is missing a Start Date or End Date, OnePlan displays an error and prevents saving.

Microsoft Project Professional

MPP uses an Effective Date to determine when a new rate begins.

A rate remains active until another row defines a new rate.

Example:

In this example:

• $50 applies before 1/1/2027.
• $60 begins on 1/1/2027.
• $60 continues until another effective date is added.

Cost Table Date Considerations

Gaps Between Dates

OnePlan allows gaps between Cost Table date ranges.

Example:

Although this is allowed, gaps should be avoided.

During uncovered periods, the expected cost may be 0, which can cause unexpected project cost calculations.

Overlapping Dates

OnePlan does not allow overlapping Cost Table date ranges.

If two rows cover the same date with different costs, OnePlan displays an error identifying the overlapping dates.

Cost Table Row Limitations

Microsoft Project Professional supports a maximum of:

• 25 rows per Cost Rate Table option
• 125 total rows across all options

OnePlan Cost Tables do not have a row limit.

If a OnePlan Cost Table contains more rows than MPP supports:

• Only the supported rows are imported.
• Additional Cost Table rows are not transferred.
