Important Updates
As we continuously enhance OnePlan, you may notice some changes that require adjustment within your OnePlan group. Each update is designed to improve the tool's speed, reliability, and ease of use. Please note that the following changes in this release may necessitate some additional configuration:
Insights App
If you have not installed the Insights App, you will need to use the new plan selector in the top bar or install the Insights App to access plans from the Home Page.
Previously, you could navigate to plans using the plan selector option in the global (left side) navigation bar.
Plan Selector
The plan selector for lookup fields is being updated to match the resource selector interface introduced in the May 2024 release. This new plan selector may override any custom code in these lookup fields, which will need to be updated. |
User Interface Updates in the Portfolio, Work Plan, and My Work
A new user interface is rolling out for the Portfolio List, Board, and Roadmap, the My Work List and Board, and the Work Plan List and Board. The toolbars have been reconfigured to organize tools based on their function, making navigation more intuitive.
Any custom code to customize the toolbar in these areas will no longer function with the new UI and will need to be updated.
Branding
A new branding interface for the OnePlan top bar is rolling out this release to allow you to customize your OnePlan site without requiring custom code.
This feature supersedes any previous customizations made through code, ensuring consistency and ease of management. To re-apply your branding, please use this new feature.
New Features Rollout Schedule
Starting July 12th, 2024, you'll have the option to enable the new portfolio plan features listed below. If not enabled by November 29th, 2024, you'll be automatically upgraded to the new functionality. Enabling this functionality includes enhanced functionality from the May 2024 release. Please review the May 2024 release notes for more information.
To enable, a OnePlan Owner should navigate to portfolio plan settings, and additional options, and click the "enable" button. Once enabled, this capability cannot be turned off.
Note
We advise testing this capability in a test or trial group before full implementation. Prepare for enhanced functionality and ensure a smooth transition with these guidelines.
OnePlan Updates
Performance Improvements
Fast Initial Load
OnePlan now loads faster than ever before, delivering a seamless user experience. Upon navigating to OnePlan or refreshing your browser, plans are no longer required to be loaded. Previously, plan information was loaded and cached, potentially causing slowdowns as more plans were added. This is now a thing of the past. Customers with large numbers of plans will experience the most significant improvement. |
Important
If you have not installed the Insights App, you will need to use the new plan selector in the top bar or install the Insights App to access plans from the Home Page. Previously, you could navigate to plans using the plan selector option in the global (left side) navigation bar.
Portfolio Plan
Faster Loading Times
The portfolio list now loads faster with dynamic paging. Paging reduces initial load times and enhances overall performance by loading data incrementally. Now, items load as you scroll, ensuring a seamless and efficient browsing experience. |
Enhanced Organization
Group your portfolio list by multiple levels for better organization and clarity.
Multiple-level grouping allows you to create customized portfolio list views that reflect your preferred grouping levels for tailored plan management. Quickly locate and access grouped plans, enhancing your workflow and productivity.

Rest API
Resource Plan Bulk Import API Enhancement
The resource plan bulk import API api/resplan/externalimport
now supports updating booking level custom fields.
Easily include and update custom fields during bulk import processes, streamlining data integration.
OneConnect Updates
OneConnect Performance
The processing logic for OnePlan related integrations has undergone a performance improvement, for strategies that process large volumes of items.
Job Logging Improvement
Logging within most integration strategies was improved for long running operations, that have paging enabled.
Previously, when an operation had paging enabled (due to large volumes of data) there was no indication that data was being processed inside of the log entry. This may have confused clients in the past, who were under the impression that data processing had stopped.
Jira Epics and OnePlan Plans
Sync to Schedule now available
Items from Jira can now be added/updated directly to the schedule in OnePlan. Within the Jira connector the “Sync to Schedule” setting must be enabled to turn this feature on. Once enabled, users will have the ability to use the Connected Systems dialog from the OnePlan Work Plan - Schedule to sync data and work items between OnePlan and Jira. If you have an existing Jira Epics integration installed, and you want to use this new feature, you will have to reinstall the integration to enable this setting. To reinstall an integration, go into the Integration, click on Advanced, and select the Reinstall option. From there, click Start. |
Note
Please note that this will reinstall any events that might have been removed in your OnePlan Config Integrations Events section.
OnePlan and Azure DevOps Plans Hierarchy Integration
New name for Azure DevOps integration
Our most feature-rich Azure DevOps integration is currently called “Azure Plans Hierarchy”. The new name going forward for this integration will be “OnePlan and Azure DevOps” integration. (“Plans Hierarchy” was removed from the name)
Service Principal based authentication
Previously, the only supported authentication method to connect to Azure DevOps was via personal access tokens (PATs) created for a specific user account in Azure DevOps. PATs require a user account, and have an expiry date of 1 year. A more secure option to authenticate to Azure DevOps is to use service principals. A Microsoft Entra service principal is a local representation of an application in a tenant. We added the ability to use a service principal to connect to Azure DevOps to all of our Azure DevOps integrations. You can add our application to your tenant or use your own. The “Use a Service Principal to connect to Azure DevOps” setting must be enabled to turn on this connection mode. If this box is checked, either a Client Id and Client Secret must be entered, or a tenant administrator must approve our application using the Authorize button on behalf of the tenant. |
Microsoft Entra ID Users to OnePlan
The Microsoft Entra ID Users to OnePlan (formerly Azure Active Directory Users to OnePlan) integration now supports the manager field. The manager that is stored in Microsoft Entra ID can be loaded into OnePlan for resources.
Tabular Data and SharePoint Integrations
SharePoint Add-In authentication will be retiring on April 2, 2026, for existing tenants. For new Office 365 tenants, it will retire in November 2024. As a result, all integrations that involve SharePoint Online (and by extension Tabular Data) will now begin transitioning their authentication to SharePoint to use a Microsoft Entra service principal. To enable authentication to SharePoint Online using the Service Principal, the "Use a Service Principal to connect to SharePoint Online" checkbox must be enabled. From there a tenant administrator must add an application (created for this purpose) to the tenant by using the Authorize button. |
Note
Please note that if connecting to SharePoint Online using a service principal, there will be no need to enter a username or password in the OneConnect configuration.
