Best Practices
Configuring Board IDs
Board IDs serve as a reference for the field and can be configured during the integration setup in the Trello connector. They play a crucial role in determining which custom fields to utilize and which Trello lists to import into OnePlan. If no Board IDs are specified, the system will default to selecting the first 25 boards accessible by the token, which may not always be desirable.
Handling Missing Lists in Synced Boards
Lists created for a board may not appear, and there is no option to manually add them. The Synch Lookups strategy will only sync lists that are associated with boards defined in the templates. As a workaround, you can use a text field to manually input the list name.
Syncing Trello Lists with OnePlan
Each Trello card is associated with a list, to ensure seamless data synchronization between the two programs, OnePlan must have a corresponding field. A custom choice or text field needs to be created in OnePlan.
Once the field is created in OnePlan, it must be mapped on the task/card level.
Workplan items in OnePlan can be configured to define which cards sync with which lists.
After mapping these two fields in the LookUp tables, Synch Lookups strategy can be triggered to populate list values from Trello.
Mind the Gap
Managing Task Status in Trello
Trello does not have a built in Status field for Boards or Tasks, those will need to be managed using a custom field approach.
Template Board Changes Don’t Apply to Existing Boards
When you create a template board in Trello and then create boards from that template, any subsequent changes made to the template will not be reflected in the already created boards. For example, adding a new list to the template board will not automatically update the boards created from it.
Closed Boards Cannot Be Edited or Processed
Closed boards cannot be edited in Trello. If a board is deemed Closed, this item will be skipped during data processing.
Handling Parent-Child Relationship
Trello does not provide built-in support for hierarchical structures where cards can be designated as parents or children.
Dependency Constraint
Trello does not natively support setting relationships such as predecessors and successors between tasks. This means there is no built-in way to enforce task order or automatically adjust schedules based on dependencies.
