Portfolio Modeler Reporting Dashboards

  • Updated

This article walks you through how to configure Reporting Dashboards in the OnePlan Portfolio Modeler.

What you will accomplish
After completing this guide, you’ll be able to create and customize Portfolio Modeler Dashboards to compare scenarios, visualize key metrics, and explore trade‑offs in your portfolio.

Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • The Portfolio Modeler app installed in OnePlan
  • The Dashboards app installed in OnePlan
  • Model created, ideally with one or more saved scenarios

Background

OnePlan includes native reporting dashboards directly inside the Portfolio Modeler. These built‑in dashboards help you quickly compare scenarios and make data‑driven decisions with confidence.

Key capabilities

  • Instant Scenario Comparison: View KPIs and charts side‑by‑side across scenarios to spot differences quickly.
  • Configurable Visuals: Focus on the metrics that matter most (e.g., cost, benefits, constraints).
  • Interactive Filters: Slice and refine views by key plan attributes to understand trade‑offs.

Important Notes

Keep the following in mind when using Modeler Dashboards:

  • Dashboards are shared across all Models.
Both global and personal dashboards can be used with any Portfolio Modeler Model.
  • Scenario slicer is always included.
Every Modeler Dashboard automatically includes a scenario slicer. It cannot be removed.
  • Dashboards only use plan data that is “In” your scenarios.
Only plans included in your model scenarios will appear in visuals.

Set up a Modeler Dashboard

Step 1: Create Dashboard Tabs

First, create a dashboard tab within your environment.
For instructions, see ➡️ How to Create a Reporting Dashboard in OnePlan

Step 2: Add Widgets to Your Dashboard

Modeler Dashboards only use plan data from your scenarios, so you don’t need to select a data source.
Only Chart Widgets are available in the Modeler.

To add a chart widget:

  1. Select New > Widget.
  2. Choose Chart.
  3. Select a chart type (example below uses Pie Chart).
  4. Complete the Add Pie Widget form:
    • Show Title: Check to display the widget title.
    • Show Legend: Check to display the chart legend.
    • Title: Enter the widget title (e.g., Budget by Business Unit).
    • Y‑Axis: Select the summarized field (e.g., Budget).
    • Aggregate: Choose Sum, Average, Minimum, or Maximum.
      • Example: Select Sum to show total budget by Business Unit.
    • Group By: Choose the segmentation field (e.g., Business Unit).
    • Labels: Select how labels appear:
      • No ValueShow Values, or Show Percent of Values
      • Example: Show Percent of Values
    • Display Unit: Choose formatting such as None, Thousands, Millions, or Billions.
      • Example: None when using percentages.
    • Model Filter (optional): Add conditions to refine the data.
      • Example: Filter to only include Projects.
