Timesheets - Update Work Item Status

This article explains how to update the status of your assigned work items while logging time in Timesheets. Combining time entry with status updates helps ensure your project manager has the most current information about your progress.

What you will accomplish
By the end of this article, you will be able to update work item status fields while submitting your timesheet.


Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A OnePlan account
  • Work items assigned to you in one or more Work Plans
  • Access to the Timesheets module

Background

Timesheets allow you to log hours worked on specific tasks and projects. When you're already recording your time, it's an ideal moment to also update the status of the work you've completed.

The Quick Edit form in Timesheets includes an Update Status section that consolidates all configured status fields in one place. It also displays context like assigned resources and dependencies, helping you understand how your work fits into the larger project.


Instructions

  1. Go to the OnePlan app and select Timesheets from the left navigation.
  2. Locate the work item you want to update.
  3. Click the work item to open the Quick Edit form.
  4. Enter your time in the Time Entry section.
  5. Scroll to the Update Status section.
  6. Complete the relevant status fields (e.g., % Complete, Status, Accomplishments).
  7. Review any additional context such as assigned resources and dependencies.
  8. Click Save to submit your time and status update.

Updating status while logging time ensures your project manager has the most accurate and timely view of your progress.
