To configure field formats for a Work Field in OnePlan, open the Work Type Form Editor for the field’s Work Type, select the pencil icon next to the field, and select the Formats tab in the field editor. Why This Matters: Work Field Formats

Context: One Underlying System for Plan and Work Field Formats

The Formats tab in the Edit Field form is available on both Plan Field and Work Field configuration forms. Creating, editing, or deleting a format rule from a Work Field’s Formats tab updates the same underlying rule visible from Administration > Format Rules — they are not separate systems. See How Do I Manage Format Coloring Settings for the global entry point, and Plan Fields - Configure Field Formats for the equivalent Plan Field workflow.

Context: Formats Are Display-Only

Formatting controls visual presentation (text color, background color, tooltips) on the work item’s form and related views. It does not modify the underlying field data or enforce validation.

Task: Enable Formats for a Work Field

  1. Open the Work Type Form Editor for the field’s Work Type. See Work Fields - Access Work Fields Configuration.

    • Background Color — Use the color picker to set the background color.
    • Tooltip — Optional text displayed when users hover over the formatted value.
  3. Add one or more conditions that determine when the formatting applies:
    1. Select a field.
    2. Choose an operator.
    3. Specify the value that triggers the formatting.
  4. Select Add to apply the format settings.

Important: Create a separate format configuration for each value or scenario you want to visually distinguish.
