Frequently Asked Questions: OnePlan Glossary
Q: Where can I find definitions for fields listed in the Alphabetical Index of Fields?
A: In OnePlan, field-level definitions are documented in the Alphabetical Index of Fields article, which covers system fields available across plans, resources, and work items.
Q: What is the difference between a Plan Automation and a Work Plan Automation?
A: In OnePlan, Plan Automations operate on the plan itself (responding to plan-level field changes, process steps, or dates), while Work Plan Automations operate on work items within a plan (responding to task-level events). Both use the same trigger-filter-action structure, but the scope and available triggers differ. See Plan Automations vs. Work Plan Automations in OnePlan - Overview for a full comparison.
Q: What is the difference between a Baseline and a Version?
A: In OnePlan, a Baseline is a read-only snapshot of a plan’s original schedule used for variance tracking and performance measurement. A Version is a full, editable copy of the work plan that can be modified, compared, or restored. Baselines measure performance against a fixed point; versions support iterative planning and experimentation.
Q: What does “rollup” mean in the context of OnePlan?
A: In OnePlan, a Rollup is the aggregation of data from work items or child plans up to a parent plan or portfolio view. For example, the total planned hours across all tasks in a plan roll up to the plan’s summary fields, which then appear in portfolio reports and dashboards.
