Direct Answer: How to Connect Your AI Assistant to OnePlan Using the MCP Server
After your administrator adds OnePlan to your AI assistant, find OnePlan in your assistant’s connector, agent, or plugin list and select Connect or Sign in. Sign in with your OnePlan account, choose your OnePlan group, and select Continue. Then turn on OnePlan in a chat and ask a question, such as “Using OnePlan, list 5 plans I have access to.” Your assistant can only see and change what you can see and change in OnePlan.
Note: The OnePlan MCP Server is available in preview to approved customers. To request access, contact your Customer Success Manager.
What This Article Covers: Connecting Your AI Assistant to OnePlan
This article shows how to connect Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or ChatGPT to OnePlan for the first time, what the sign-in looks like, and how to reconnect, switch groups, or disconnect.
What you will accomplish By the end of this article, your AI assistant will be connected to OnePlan with your own account, and you will have confirmed it can return your OnePlan data.
Before You Begin: Connecting Your AI Assistant to OnePlan
Before you begin, make sure:
- Your administrator has added OnePlan to your AI assistant. If you don’t see OnePlan, contact your administrator.
- You can sign in to OnePlan with your usual account.
- Pop-ups are allowed for your assistant’s website. Sign-in opens in a pop-up or a new tab.
Why This Matters: Connecting Your AI Assistant to OnePlan
Context: Your Assistant Works as You
Each person connects with their own OnePlan account. Your assistant can only see and change what you can see and change in OnePlan, so two people can get different answers to the same question.
Context: One Group at a Time
Your connection uses the OnePlan group you chose when you signed in. To work in another group, reconnect and choose that group.
Step-by-Step: Connecting Your AI Assistant to OnePlan
Task: Complete the OnePlan Sign-In
The OnePlan sign-in is the same in every assistant. After you start the connection from your assistant:
- Sign in to OnePlan. A OnePlan sign-in window opens. Sign in as usual, including your organization’s single sign-on if it uses one.
- Choose your group. On the Authorize Access screen, select the OnePlan group you want to work in, then select Continue. If you belong to only one group, it’s already selected.
-
Return to your assistant. The window closes and
OnePlan shows as connected.
Task: Connect Claude
Starting from Claude:
- Go to Customize > Connectors.
- Find OnePlan (it may be labeled Custom) and select Connect.
- Complete the OnePlan sign-in.
- In a chat, select + > Connectors, then turn on OnePlan.
Note: On a Claude Free, Pro, or Max plan, if OnePlan isn’t listed, you can add it yourself: go to Customize > Connectors > + Add > Add custom connector, enter the server address from your administrator, and select Use Claude’s published identity. A OnePlan group administrator must still allow Claude for your group.

Task: Connect Microsoft Copilot
In Microsoft 365, you use OnePlan through an agent your administrator publishes.
-
In Microsoft 365 Copilot or Microsoft Teams, open the OnePlan agent your administrator shared with you. It appears in your agent list, and you can pin it for quick access.

Ask a question that needs OnePlan, such as “Show me 5 of my plans.”
When the agent shows a sign-in card, select Sign in and complete the OnePlan sign-in.
Task: Connect ChatGPT
Starting from ChatGPT on the web:
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
- Find OnePlan, select it, and select the option to connect.
- Complete the OnePlan sign-in.
- In a chat, type
@and select OnePlan.
Note: In ChatGPT, selecting
@OnePlanapplies to that message. Mention@OnePlanagain when a follow-up question needs new OnePlan data.
Task: Check That the Connection Works
Try these prompts:
- “Using OnePlan, list 5 plans I have access to.” — You should see a short list of your plans.
- “What’s assigned to me in OnePlan this week?” — You should see your work items.
If you see your data, you’re connected. For more ideas, see MCP Server Use Cases in OnePlan - Overview.
Task: Approve Tool Actions
Your assistant may ask before it uses a OnePlan tool, especially one that makes changes. You might see options such as Allow once, Always allow, or Deny. These prompts come from your assistant, not OnePlan.
- Read what the tool will do before allowing it.
- For changes, ask for a preview first, then allow.
- If you deny, nothing changes in OnePlan.
Task: Reconnect, Switch Groups, or Disconnect
- Claude — Go to Customize > Connectors and select OnePlan. Select Disconnect to disconnect. To switch groups, select Disconnect, then Connect, and choose the new group.
- ChatGPT — Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and open OnePlan. Disconnect it, then connect again to choose a new group.
You may also be asked to sign in again if your session expires or your OnePlan password changes.
