Direct Answer: What Reporting Widgets Are Available in OnePlan?
OnePlan dashboards support six widget categories: Cards, Charts, Tables, Pivot Charts, Heatmaps, and Gauges. Which widgets are available depends on two things: where the dashboard is configured (Portfolio Area, Plan, Timesheet, Global Resource Plan, or Modeler) and which data source you select when adding a widget. Not all widget types are available at every location or with every data source.
What This Article Covers: Reporting Widgets
This article describes every widget type available in OnePlan dashboards, organized by dashboard location and data source. It explains what each widget does, when to use it, and where it is available.
What you will accomplish
Choose the right widgets for your dashboard based on where your dashboard lives and what data you want to visualize.
Who This Article Is For: Reporting Widgets
This article is for OnePlan end users who are building or planning dashboards and want to understand what visualization options are available before adding widgets.
Why This Matters: Reporting Widgets
Availability Depends on Context
Widget availability in OnePlan is not universal — it varies by dashboard location and data source. Understanding this upfront saves time when building dashboards, because you know what to expect before you start configuring.
The Right Widget for the Right Data
Different widget types are designed for different analytical purposes. Cards surface KPIs at a glance, charts reveal trends and distributions, tables support drill-down analysis, pivot charts enable dynamic grouping, heatmaps expose patterns across two dimensions, and gauges track progress toward targets.
Understanding Reporting Widgets in OnePlan
Dashboard Locations
OnePlan dashboards exist in five locations, each with its own data context:
Portfolio Area — Dashboards here display data aggregated across all plans within the Portfolio Area. When you add a widget, you select a data source (Plans, Financials, or Resource Plans) and configure filters to define which plans are included.
Plan — Dashboards here display data from the specific plan where the dashboard is configured — a project, program, epic, engagement, or other plan type. Data sources include Work Items, Plan, Financials, Resource Plans, and Timesheets.
Timesheet — Dashboards here display data from the current user's timesheets. There is no data source selection — the dashboard automatically pulls timesheet data.
Global Resource Plan — Dashboards here display data from the Global Resource Plan. There is no data source selection. What a user sees is determined by their permissions: Owners and Managers can see all resource data in the Global Resource Plan; Contributors can only see resources they are listed as the manager of, or the subset of resources assigned to them if the Resource Manager role is configured in your environment.
Modeler — Dashboards here display data from the model currently open in the Portfolio Modeler. There is no data source selection — the dashboard pulls data from the active model.
Widget Availability by Dashboard Location
Portfolio Area Dashboards
Portfolio Area dashboards support three data sources. Available widget types differ by data source.
Data Source: Plans
Use Plans to aggregate plan-level information (budgets, states, categories, plan types, etc.) across the plans in the Portfolio Area.
Available widgets: Card | Table | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Bubble, Pie, Donut) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Financials
Use Financials to chart financial plan information (budget, actuals, forecast, cost types, etc.) across the plans in the Portfolio Area.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Resource Plans
Use Resource Plans to chart resource plan information (resource allocation, capacity, roles, etc.) across the plans in the Portfolio Area.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Plan Dashboards
Plan dashboards support five data sources. Available widget types differ by data source.
Data Source: Work Items
Use Work Items to display information about tasks, risks, issues, and other work items within the plan.
Available widgets: Card | Table | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Bubble, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Plan
Use Plan to display plan-level fields for the specific plan where the dashboard is configured.
Available widgets: Card | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Financials
Use Financials to chart financial plan information for the specific plan.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Resource Plans
Use Resource Plans to chart resource plan information for the specific plan.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Data Source: Timesheets
Use Timesheets to chart timesheet information logged against the specific plan.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut)
Note: Combo, Heatmap, and Gauge are not available with the Timesheets data source on Plan dashboards.
Timesheet Dashboards
Timesheet dashboards do not have a data source selection — they automatically pull data from the current user's timesheets.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut)
Note: Table, Bubble, Combo, Heatmap, and Gauge are not available on Timesheet dashboards.
Global Resource Plan Dashboards
Global Resource Plan dashboards do not have a data source selection — they automatically pull resource data from the Global Resource Plan.
Available widgets: Card | Pivot | Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Note: Table and Bubble are not available on Global Resource Plan dashboards.
Note: Permissions affect data visibility. Owners and Managers see all resource data. Contributors see only resources they manage directly, or the subset assigned to them if the Resource Manager role is configured.
Modeler Dashboards
Modeler dashboards do not have a data source selection — they automatically pull data from the model currently open in the Portfolio Modeler.
Available widgets: Charts (Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, Stacked Bar 100%, Column, Stacked Column, Stacked Column 100%, Pie, Donut, Combo) | Visualizations (Heatmap, Gauge)
Note: Card, Table, Pivot, and Bubble are not available on Modeler dashboards.
Widget Descriptions
Card Widgets
A Card Widget displays a single value — a KPI or summary metric — at a glance. Cards are ideal for showing counts, sums, and averages of key fields such as total budget, count of active risks, or approved hours. The widget displays the result of an aggregation (sum, count, average, min, or max) applied to a chosen field.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Plans, Financials, Resource Plans) | Plan (Work Items, Plan, Financials, Resource Plans, Timesheets) | Timesheet | Global Resource Plan
Table Widgets
A Table Widget presents data in a row-and-column format, similar to a spreadsheet. Tables are ideal when you need to display multiple fields per item side by side, allow sorting, or support drill-down analysis. Columns, grouping, sorting, and display totals are all configurable.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Plans data source only) | Plan (Work Items data source only)
Pivot Chart Widgets
A Pivot Chart Widget provides interactive, pivot-style analysis of resource plan and timesheet data. Users can dynamically group and explore metrics across multiple dimensions — useful for analyzing resource allocation patterns, timesheet hours by project, or cost breakdowns over time.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Resource Plans) | Plan (Resource Plans, Timesheets) | Timesheet | Global Resource Plan
Chart Widgets
Chart Widgets display data graphically. All chart styles follow the same configuration pattern: choose a data source, select a value field and aggregation, define groupings, and optionally add filters. A live preview updates as you configure the chart.
Area Chart
Connects data points with a line and fills the area beneath it to emphasize magnitude over time or across categories.
When to use: Visualizing trends over time, comparing contributions with stacked areas, or highlighting cumulative data. Can get cluttered with too many categories.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Line Chart
Connects data points with a continuous line, emphasizing trends or changes over time.
When to use: Showing continuous data trends. Less suitable for categorical comparisons.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Bar Chart
A horizontal bar chart where bar length corresponds to the value being compared.
When to use: Clear comparisons across categories. Not ideal for time-series trends.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Stacked Bar Chart
A horizontal bar chart where each bar is divided into segments representing components of the total.
When to use: Comparing totals while showing component breakdown. Can be hard to read with too many segments.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Stacked Bar 100%
A 100% stacked bar chart where all bars are scaled to 100%, showing relative proportions rather than absolute values.
When to use: Comparing percentage distributions across categories or tracking changes in relative contributions.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Column Chart
A vertical bar chart where bar height corresponds to the value being compared.
When to use: Comparing values across categories, highlighting differences, and tracking changes over time.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Stacked Column Chart
A vertical bar chart where each column is divided into segments representing components of the total.
When to use: Comparing overall totals while showing component breakdown. Can become cluttered with too many segments.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Stacked Column 100%
A 100% stacked column chart where all columns are scaled to 100%, showing relative proportions.
When to use: Comparing percentage distributions across categories or analyzing changes in relative contributions.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Bubble Chart
Plots three variables simultaneously: X axis, Y axis, and bubble size as a third dimension.
When to use: Comparing relationships across multiple dimensions. Can be tricky to interpret with many bubbles.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Plans) | Plan (Work Items) only — not available at Timesheet, Global Resource Plan, or Modeler.
Pie Chart
A circular chart where each slice represents a category's proportion of the whole.
When to use: Illustrating proportions within a dataset. Best with a small number of categories; hard to read with too many similar-sized slices.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Donut Chart
A variation of the pie chart with a hollow center that can display additional context — such as a total — in the empty space.
When to use: Same scenarios as a pie chart, with the benefit of displaying extra information in the center.
Available at: All locations and data sources except Plan (Plan data source).
Combo Chart
Displays bars and a line together in a single chart, allowing you to compare two metric types in one view — for example, budget as bars and forecast as a line across time periods.
When to use: Analyzing time-phased financial or resource data where you want to see how multiple metrics relate across periods. Useful for spotting correlations or discrepancies at a glance.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Financials, Resource Plans) | Plan (Work Items, Financials, Resource Plans) | Global Resource Plan | Modeler — not available at Timesheet or with the Plan (Plan data source).
Heatmap Widgets
A Heatmap Widget visually compares data across two dimensions using color intensity to indicate magnitude. Higher or lower values are immediately visible through the color gradient, making it easy to spot trends, outliers, and concentration patterns — for example, forecast by business unit and investment category.
When to use: Identifying which combinations of two dimensions are over- or under-performing. Well suited for portfolio-level financial comparisons and resource capacity analysis.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Plans, Financials, Resource Plans) | Plan (Work Items, Plan, Financials, Resource Plans) | Global Resource Plan | Modeler — not available at Timesheet or with the Timesheets data source on Plan dashboards.
Gauge Widgets
A Gauge Widget displays a single value against a defined target range using a dial or meter format, making it easy to see at a glance how close current performance is to a goal.
When to use: Tracking progress toward a specific numeric target — budget consumption, resource utilization, task completion percentage, or other KPIs with a defined threshold.
Available at: Portfolio Area (Plans, Financials, Resource Plans) | Plan (Work Items, Plan, Financials, Resource Plans) | Global Resource Plan | Modeler — not available at Timesheet or with the Timesheets data source on Plan dashboards.
