Direct Answer: What Are Notifications in OnePlan?
Notifications in OnePlan are alerts that tell you when something needs your attention — a new comment, a shared plan, a resource request, a time off approval, or a system update. Notifications appear in the Notifications inbox, accessible from the header menu, and are also sent by email.

This article is for any OnePlan end user who receives notifications, including resource managers, plan owners, and contributors. Why This Matters: Notifications
Staying Informed Without Losing Focus
Notifications surface time-sensitive items — approvals, comments, resource requests — as they happen, so you do not have to go looking for them across every plan and task you are involved in.
One Place for Everything
The Notifications inbox consolidates notifications, chat-style updates, and system messages in a single, searchable location, so you can catch up and act without leaving what you are working on.
Understanding Notifications in OnePlan
The Notifications Inbox
Click the Notifications icon in the header menu to open the Inbox. A yellow dot appears next to the icon when you have a new notification; if you have more than one, the dot is labeled with your total unread count.
The Inbox is organized into two panes:
-
Notification list — On the left, a scrollable list of your notifications, each showing the sender, a summary, and the date received. Unread notifications are marked with a blue dot.
-
Notification detail — On the right, the full content of the notification you select, including any related links (for example, View Request on a resource request notification).
The Inbox also includes the following controls:
-
Search Notifications — Field at the top of the list to find a notification by keyword.
-
Unread — Toggle to filter the list down to only unread notifications.
-
Mark as all read — Link in the top-right corner that marks every notification in the list as read.
-
Close (X) — Closes the Inbox and returns you to what you were working on.
Note: To manage your own notification preferences, click your avatar in the top toolbar and select Notifications. This opens the Manage Notifications form, where you can check or uncheck individual notification types, or use Check All / Uncheck All. Any user can access this form, even without access to the Resource Center. You can also reach the same form for your own account from the Resource Center by clicking the bell icon next to your own resource record — see Manage Resource Notification Settings, which Resource Managers also use to set notification preferences for other resources.
Note: You cannot delete or archive an individual notification from the Inbox. Notifications are automatically removed from the Inbox after 60 days.
Note: System notifications are not sent to users marked as inactive.
Types of Notifications
OnePlan pushes out system notifications when there are updates to the system, such as releases or scheduled maintenance.
Depending on your organization's OnePlan configuration and your role, you can also receive the following interface notifications. You can see the complete list, and choose which ones you receive, from the Manage Notifications form (click your avatar in the top toolbar and select Notifications).

Automation-Configured Notifications
-
{PlanNotificationSubject} — Placeholder for the subject line of a plan-level notification. This can still be configured through the standalone Plan Notifications interface (Portfolio Area or plan level), but that interface is being removed in an upcoming release — OnePlan recommends configuring new plan-level notifications through a Plan Automation's Send Notification action instead.
-
{WorkPlanNotificationSubject} — Placeholder for the subject line you set in a Work Plan Automation's Send Notification action.
-
{StageGatesApprovalNotificationSubject} — Placeholder for the subject line configured on a Stage Gate approval. See How to Configure Stage Gate Approvals.
-
{StageGatesRejectionNotificationSubject} — Placeholder for the subject line configured on a Stage Gate rejection. See How to Configure Stage Gate Approvals.
Note: The curly-brace items above are not fixed notification text. They represent a subject line that is configured elsewhere. {WorkPlanNotificationSubject} and the Stage Gate items come from a Work Plan Automation's Send Notification action and from Stage Gate approval/rejection configuration, respectively. {PlanNotificationSubject} can still come from the standalone Plan Notifications interface, which is being phased out in favor of a Plan Automation's Send Notification action — see How to Create and Manage Plan-Level Notifications in OnePlan for the current interface, and switch to the automation-based approach where possible. The actual text you see depends on how that automation or Stage Gate was configured. See How to Configure a Send Notification Action for Plan Automations in OnePlan, How to Configure a Send Notification Action for Work Plan Automations in OnePlan, and How to Configure Stage Gate Approvals.
How Notifications Are Delivered
Most notifications are delivered both to your Notifications inbox and by email. Comment notifications also surface in the Recent Conversations section on the Home page. See How to Use Comments in OnePlan for more on comment notifications specifically.
