This article explains how to assign cost categorization values to resources in the Resource Plan so resource costs are automatically categorized when imported into the Financial Plan.
Assigning categorization in the Resource Plan allows planners to apply plan‑specific or scenario‑specific cost classifications.
What you will accomplish
By the end of this article, you will be able to assign cost categorization values to resources within a Resource Plan.
Requirements
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A OnePlan account with access to the Resource Plan
- A Category Field configured and designated for cost categorization. See Financial Plan Automatic Cost Categorization - Configure Cost Categorization.
- A plan with resources already assigned
Background
The Resource Plan is used to plan and forecast resource costs at the plan level.
When a Category Field is assigned to a resource in the Resource Plan, that value is retained when costs are imported into the Financial Plan and used to automatically categorize costs.
Use the Resource Plan when a resource’s cost category varies by plan or scenario.

- Open the plan and go to the Resource Plan.
