OnePlan AI Glossary: A–Z

A

AI Assistant A tool you chat with in plain language to get answers or complete tasks. Sofia AI is the AI assistant built into OnePlan. Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT are AI assistants outside OnePlan that can connect to OnePlan through the OnePlan MCP Server.

AI for Plan Fields A setting that lets an administrator turn on AI assistance for a plan field. When it’s on, users see a Sofia icon next to the field on the Plan Details form and can generate or suggest content for the field. It requires Sofia AI to be enabled first.

C

Callback URL The web address OnePlan sends a user back to after they sign in. The callback URL on an app registration must match the AI assistant’s callback URL exactly.

Client ID The public identifier of an app registration. You enter it in your AI assistant’s connector settings. It isn’t a secret.

Client Secret A password for an app registration. It’s created only for confidential clients, and it’s shown once. If it’s lost, use Rotate secret to create a new one.

Connector (Plugin or Tool) A saved connection in an AI assistant to another system, such as OnePlan. Different assistants use different names: Claude calls it a connector, ChatGPT calls it a plugin, and Copilot Studio calls it a tool.

Consent A group administrator’s approval for an app to be used in their OnePlan group. You add consent with Add Consent and remove it with Remove Consent under Register Custom Apps. Each group gives consent separately.

Copilot Agent A custom AI agent built in Microsoft Copilot Studio. In OnePlan, an administrator can connect a published Copilot agent to Sofia AI so it appears in the Sofia chat. An agent can also be published to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.

Copilot Studio (Microsoft Copilot Studio) The Microsoft tool used to build and publish Copilot agents. The OnePlan MCP Server connects to Microsoft Copilot through an agent built here.

Custom App (App Registration) A record in OnePlan that identifies an external app, such as an AI assistant, as a trusted sign-in client. Administrators manage them under profile avatar > Register Custom Apps. Each one has a Client ID and, for confidential clients, a Client Secret.

G

Group (OnePlan Group) The OnePlan environment you sign in to. When you connect an AI assistant to OnePlan, your connection uses one group at a time. To work in another group, reconnect and choose that group.

M

MCP (Model Context Protocol) An open standard that lets AI assistants use tools from other business systems. An MCP server publishes a set of tools, and the assistant chooses and calls the right ones for your request.

MCP Server (OnePlan MCP Server) The service OnePlan hosts so AI assistants such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT can work with your OnePlan data. There is nothing to install. It’s available in preview to approved customers.

O

OAuth A standard sign-in method that lets an app work for you without seeing your password. With the OnePlan MCP Server, each user signs in with their own OnePlan account, and the assistant can only see and change what that user can.

OnePlan Agent Template A prebuilt Copilot Studio agent solution for OnePlan. After it’s configured, users can create plans and pull status reports by chatting with the agent.

P

PKCE A sign-in safeguard used instead of a Client Secret for public clients. OnePlan uses the SHA-256 (S256) method.

Plan Data Analysis A Sofia AI setting that allows OnePlan to use plan data when it generates insights, such as summaries and recommendations. Administrators turn it on under Settings > Sofia AI.

Preconfigured App An app that OnePlan has already registered for you, such as Claude. It appears on the Global tab of Browse App Registrations, and you enable it in your group with Add Consent.

Preview (Release) A stage where a feature is available to a limited group of approved customers, and features may change. The OnePlan MCP Server is in preview. Contact your Customer Success Manager to request access.

Preview Before Saving A before-and-after summary of a change that your AI assistant shows before anything is saved to OnePlan. Ask your assistant to “preview it first.” Most changes support it. Plan creation and plan field updates save immediately, so review the summary before you confirm.

Prompt The question or instruction you type to an AI assistant. Specific prompts that name the plan, person, time period, and format you want give better results.

Public Client / Confidential Client Two kinds of app registration. A public client has no Client Secret and uses PKCE. A confidential client has a Client Secret. Copilot Studio requires a confidential client.

S

Scope (Custom App) A setting that controls where an app registration is available. Group means the current group only. Organization means other groups in your organization can add consent to it. Global apps are provided by OnePlan.

Sofia AI The AI assistant built into OnePlan. Select the Sofia chat icon in the bottom-right corner to ask questions, analyze the data you have open, and draft content. A System Administrator enables it under Settings > Sofia AI.

T

Tool (MCP Tool) A single action the OnePlan MCP Server offers to an AI assistant, such as searching plans or updating a financial plan. Read tools only retrieve information. Write tools can change data. You don’t need to know tool names. Describe what you want, and your assistant picks the tools.
