OnePlan includes four AI offerings that work together. Sofia AI is the built-in assistant you chat with inside OnePlan. AI for Plan Fields helps generate content in fields on your plans. Context: Different Offerings for Different Places
Some AI offerings work inside OnePlan, where you’re already planning and reporting. Others work in an AI assistant you already use, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or ChatGPT. Knowing where each tool lives makes it easier to pick the right one and to ask your administrator for the right setup.
Context: Your Permissions Apply
Sofia AI and the OnePlan MCP Server work within what the signed-in user is allowed to see and do in OnePlan. They don’t give anyone access to plans, resources, or data they couldn’t already reach.
Understanding AI in OnePlan
Sofia AI: The Built-In Assistant
Sofia AI is the AI assistant built into OnePlan. Select the Sofia chat icon in the bottom-right corner of OnePlan and ask a question in plain language.
Use Sofia AI to:
- Ask how to do something in OnePlan, or ask about project and portfolio management practices
- Summarize or analyze the data on the page you have open
- Draft content such as project descriptions, status report highlights, or risk descriptions
A System Administrator turns Sofia AI on under Settings > Sofia AI by selecting Enable Sofia. An administrator can also select Plan Data Analysis, which allows OnePlan to use plan data when generating insights.
Sofia AI is a text-based assistant. It can be wrong or miss details, so review its answers before relying on them.
AI for Plan Fields
AI for Plan Fields lets administrators turn on AI assistance for selected plan fields. When it’s on for a field, users see a Sofia icon next to the field on the Plan Details form. Selecting the icon generates or suggests content, which users can accept, edit, or ignore.
An administrator enables it field by field on the AI tab of the plan field, and Sofia AI must already be enabled in your system. AI is available for Text, Multi-Line Text, Choice, and Date fields.
Copilot Agents
Copilot agents are your organization’s own Microsoft Copilot Studio agents. There are two related options:
- Connect your own agent to Sofia AI. A System Administrator adds a published Copilot agent in the Sofia chat under Manage Agents. The agent then appears in the Sofia chat dropdown within the OnePlan modules the administrator selects.
- Start from the OnePlan Agent Template. This prebuilt Copilot Studio agent solution lets users create plans and pull status reports by chatting with an agent, and it can be published to Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365. Setup needs an Entra tenant administrator, a Power Platform System Administrator, a OnePlan Administrator or Owner, and a full Copilot Studio license.
OnePlan MCP Server (Preview)
The OnePlan MCP Server connects AI assistants that live outside OnePlan, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT, to your OnePlan data. You can find plans, check resource availability, review financials, manage work items, and act on approvals by asking in plain language, and you can combine OnePlan with the assistant’s other connectors, such as email or documents.
Note: The OnePlan MCP Server is available in preview to approved customers. To request access, contact your Customer Success Manager.
A OnePlan group administrator and your AI assistant’s administrator set up the connection once. Each user then signs in with their own OnePlan account.
