Purpose
This article explains how to configure the Request Update action in Work Plan automations.
The Request Update action sends an email and in‑app notification with an status update request for users in the Assigned Resource field for affected work items.
How to Configure the Request Update Action
- Click Add Automation Action > Select Request Update from the drop-down. The Edit Request Update panel will open on the right.
- Complete the form.
- Fields Sent: Select up to 10 fields to include in the notification. A table will be created in the notification using the most recent values from the project that triggered the automation.
- Message Body: Enter the message content for the notification.
Note
You do not need to select a recipient for this action. Rather, the action will send the update request to users in the Assigned Resources field for the affected work item(s).
- Click Update to save the automation.
Next Steps
If you’re finished configuring your automation, click Save to finalize it.
If you want to extend your automation, you can add additional actions. While there’s no strict limit on how many actions you can include, we recommend keeping the number manageable to maintain optimal performance. Explore the other available action types to continue building out your automation.
